Letter from the Founder & CEO
Welcome to Doorways To Home where we help people Obtain, Retain, and Sustain financial health through home buying, home-owning and financial education.
My name is Katherine Peoples McGill and I am the Executive Director of Doorways To Home, a thriving, dedicated, forward thinking, HUD Approved Consumer Housing Counseling Organization and Community Development Center located in Southern California. Our core focuses are not only rooted in creating sustainable home-ownership opportunities but also in teaching wise financial living disciplines that develop and support informed, empowered, environmentally conscious consumers and giving them a foundation for long-term financial acuity.
My efforts were initially focused on foreclosure intervention counseling. But, since 2009, I have personally counseled hundreds of homeowners, while also training counselors and mortgage servicer's on the value of quality counseling.
I have also secured joint ventures with other nonprofit agencies and governmental entities within my community under the auspices of the Los Angeles Housing Opportunity Collaborative to combat predatory lending and foreclosures.
In addition, my work includes education development and delivery of affordable housing sectors for first-time-homebuyers improving the quality and delivery of education. I passionately work with first time homebuyers and specialize in down payment assistance.
I have authorized various publications, practitioner curricula and consumer training manuals to homeownership, pre- &post-purchase and asset building,
Having worked with some of the largest financial institutions, I can capably deliver stellar training in the areas of conventional and governmental lending focusing on affordable lending products in the communities they serve.
My extensive educational training and background includes a highly complementary combination of business law, communication and advocacy and I hold a BA in Business Management from Pepperdine University.
I built Doorways To Home to become one of the most recognized and successful non-profit HUD approved housing counseling agencies in the greater Southern California area. I am proud to say that, under my tutelage, the organization grew from a single neighborhood effort into a multi-service organization providing lending, financial fitness education, leadership development, and community affordable housing programs to the greater Los Angeles area.
I have done all this with a single goal in mind : to empower others to make their dreams come true through education and knowledge.
Won't you join my efforts?
Sincerely
Katherine Peoples McGill
